Brief: Jinggangshan Railway is Complete and Operational
July 5, 2007 -- On June 28, 2007, The Ministry of Railways in Jiangxi Province announced that the Jinggangshan Railway was complete and operational, reported the Guangming Daily.
The line has been working under test conditions since April 18, with trains going from Jinggangshan to the following stations: Nanchang, Beijing West Station, Shanghai South Station and Shenzhen. In the last two months, the number of people carried by the train to and from Jinggangshan is 26,299. The railway is over 80km long and it cost 900million yuan ($118 million). The Guangming Daily also reported that the operation of the new Jinggangshan Railway will close the distance between the town and the outside world. It will make it much easier for tourists from come to Jianggangshan, which will in turn enormously promote local economic and social development. |
