Brief:  Chongqing to Receive Six Railways and One Ringroad by 2020
September 6, 2007 -- It has been announced that Chongqing will receive six railways and a ring road by 2020, reported Chongqing Daily. These improvements will add 363.5 kilometers of road and railway to the pre-existing transportation stock. In addition to this 93 new train stations will be built to supplement 111 stations that are already in place.

Looking forward to 2050, Chongqing is planned to have nine railway lines, totaling 513 kilometers, with 270 stations.

The three main forms of public transport in Chongqing are subway, light rail transit and intercity railway. The Line 1 is a subway while Line 2 and Line 3 are light rail transit.
