Brief: Guangxi Power Grid to Invest 180 Million Yuan in Areas Without Electricity
September 12, 2007 -- Guangxi Power Grid will invest 180 million yuan this year in projects to bring power to areas that still lack access to electricity, reported Xinhua on September 7. The areas that will be affected include Nanning, Hechi, Bose and Guigang. Around 125,000 people will gain access to electricity, Yu Jianguo, manager of Guangxi Power Grid, told the state-owned newswire. The money will be used to build or alter 738 10-kilovolt distribution units with a total length of wire reaching 1,831.8 kilometers.
Due to lack of investment in construction in the power grid net in rural areas, more than 400 villages in Guangxi Province were not included in the projects. Around 500,000 cannot participate in the policy known as "The Same Grid, the Same Price." Yu said that Guangxi Power Grid will invest 4.6 billion yuan in improving the power grid during the Eleventh 5 Year Plan. |
