October 18, 2007 -- This year Sichuan will for the first time see its GDP surpass 1 trillion yuan and its total revenue will break through 130 billion yuan. The announcement was made at the Sichuan Economic Conference held in Chengdu October 13, reported Xinhua News.

The speed of GDP growth in Sichuan increases each quarter. It increased 13.5 percent during the first quarter and during the first half of the year overall, it increased by 13.7 percent. Growth in the last half of the year is expected to be even faster. Sichuan's total revenue increased by 30 percent on last year, among which local general budget revenue increased by 33.4 percent.

Jiang Jufeng, governer of Sichuan, stressed that certain factors, such as energy saving, emissions reduction are far from satisfactory. Sichuan will focus on promoting energy saving industry in key fields as well as increasing the level of pollution treatment.
