Brief:  Xinjiang Lake to Get Wetland Park
November 1, 2007 -- Sailimu Lake in Xinjiang Province, will get the first national wetland park in Xinjiang, Xinhuanet reported on October 27, 2007.

Xinjiang Bortala Mongolian Prefecture, where the Sailimu Lake is located has already set plans into motion for building the wetland park. The total area of the wetland park is over 1,300 square kilometers, from north Wenquan County to the south border of Bortala Mongolian Prefecture and Ili Kazak Autonomous Prefecture.

The prefecture has set up a special administrative office to look after the wetland and to better protect wetland resources. A two-square-kilometer service center has also been set up with an investment of 12 million yuan (US$1.6 million) to handle travel services in the wetland, reported Xinhua. The current service center and facilities will be upgraded to the new one by the end of this year, reported Xinhua.
